i-TURTLE SMART TTL

This TTL trigger  was developed for Nikon DSLR camera systems. The new i-TURTLE SMART TTL trigger works in i-TTL Unified mode where it's possible to change between Manual and TTL mode from the camera. The i-TURTLE SMART is the perfect choice for the demanding underwater photographer who needs a reliable TTL converter which works with the most popular underwater strobes (Inon, Ikelite, Sea&Sea, Subtronic).

  • Compatible camera models (as of 19.02.2019.): Nikon D5, D4s, D4, D850, D810, D810A, D750, D600, D500, D300, D300s, D7500, D7200, D7100, D7000, D90 with the latest firmware (Unified flash system) DSLR and Nikon Z6, Z7 mirrorless
  • Compatible strobes (as of 19.02.2019.): Ikelite DS160, Inon Z240/Z330, Sea&Sea YS-250, YS-D1, YS-D2 (optical), YS-110a, Subtronic Pro 160, Pro 270
As we regularly add new models please download and check the software before purchasing for compatible camera and strobe types.

The i-TURTLE SMART is a state-of-the-art user friendly TTL converter which can be upgraded by the user via the USB port. Upon upgrading you simply choose the strobe and the camera model from the software and download the setup to the TURTLE's memory.

The Internal charging system works via USB AB connector  (This is a normal Android phone charger)

The package contains the i-TURTLE SMART TTL trigger fpr Nikon cameras and the LED panel or the special cable for sync cord connection.

The flash trigger plugs into the camera hotshoe and provides an optical signal for fast, continuous strobe firing.

Flash triggers allow motor drive shooting sequences, perfect for fast moving action. Since the popup flash is not used, the camera does not have to wait for the popup flash to recycle, meaning faster shooting, less heat buildup, and longer camera battery life. Shoot as fast as your external strobes can handle!

No extra battery needed..

Forget the need of another extra battery: Turtle has it’s own inside it’s sleek package. All you need is a USB charger or anything with a USB port to charge it to full power, and it only takes an hour.

Here is the new smart i-TURTLE.

The compact flash trigger plugs into the camera hotshoe, you only need to connect the LED cable to the flash trigger and install the LEDs inside the housing.

The TURTLE for Nikon TTL converter is a unit designed for underwater photographers. It automatically sets the exposure on your strobes when the strobes fire. With our product, you don’t have to worry about setting your strobe power for each shot. You’ll get a good exposure even when your subject is moving fast. But we built in the manual setting feature to the TURTLE TTL converter so whenever you want to set the power by yourself, you can do it.

If you want to connect your strobe via fiber optic cable we recommend to use multicore cable!

Nikon Unified system in the i-TURTLE SMART

Only the newer Nikon camera models work with the new i-TURTLE SMART family

The market is evolving every minutes and we would like to follow that.

A few years ago we used analog camera systems underwater, like the then popular Nikon F100 in Subal housing with Ikelite strobes. Later they introduced digital cameras and everyone changed their underwater setups. The photographers still used Nikon and Canon camera models but they chose the digital strobes like Ikelite DS 125 to use in TTL mode. It was capable of communicating with the camera, using preflash and making a good shot via digital communication (i-TTL).

The Nikon's latest development is a new system which they call Unified flash system. This is the best solution for the underwater photographers as it allows switching the mode from TTL to Manual and set the strobe power level in the camera menu.

We implemented this new control system in the i-TURTLE SMART TTL trigger unit. But this system does not work with the older camera models. The i-TURTLE SMART works with these Nikon camera models (latest camera firmware version required!):

D5, D4s, D4, D850, D810, D810A, D750, D600, D500, D300, D300s, D7500, D7200, D7100, D7000, D90

In the attached table you will find the Unified flash system compatible camera models in the A, B,C,D group.

  • TURTLE adapter
  • LED adapter with the new 64 candela high power LED!  *
  • USB Charger for built-in 120 mAh Li-ion battery.

* Please contact us to choose the LED suitable for you, it depends on the housing, camera and strobe setup you use
