Zoom U-24
The U-24 is a compact, 2-in/4-out audio interface that provides all of the essential tools you need for recording and performing with high resolution, 24-bit/96 kHz audio—anywhere you go. Get incredible sound quality thanks to high-quality, low-noise preamps—the same ones found on our acclaimed H5 and H6 Handy Recorders. Connect to your PC, Mac, or iPhone/iPad via USB and record mics, instruments, and more. The U-24 delivers the same great sound as our U-44 interface, with a more streamlined feature set.
Our comments: We are very impressed with these
new sound interfaces from Zoom. The U-24 can be battery powered and used
as a stand-alone hydrophone preamp for listening. For recording and
real-time monitoring, you can expect self noise to be well below any
common sea state noise. Response is very linear (max sample rate,
+0/3dB: 5Hz - 43KHz line; 12Hz - 43KHz mic). Sensitivity and dynamic
range are respectable for a product in this price range. The drivers
seem solid and were easy to install. We can highly recommend it for any
user in need of a low-cost recording interface or data acquisition
device for underwater sound!
Use directly
with our H2dX or H3x hydrophones. Also works well with our PA6
hydrophone preamp. For loud underwater sounds, you can connect our
passive hydrophones directly to the Hi-Z input, but for general
recording applications, we recommend using the mic input for improved
sensitivity. For leak detection: This is a popular low-cost amp for leak
detection contractors. It is small, professional-looking, has the same
great high-gain, low-noise preamp as used in the H5 recorder, and the
"direct monitor" switch can be used as a convenient mute switch while
moving the hydrophone.

Pristine Recording and Playback
Inspired by our Zoom H-series recorders, the U-24 is equipped with high-performance, low-noise mic preamps (-119.5 dB EIN) that enable recording and playback at resolutions up to 24-bit/96 kHz. You can also use U-24 as a studio-quality headphone amp and listen to your favorite music in full fidelity.
Get Connected
The U-24 is equipped with an essential collection of inputs and outputs for streamlined recording. Two combo inputs with independent gain knobs and multi-color level indicators allow you to connect mics, keyboards, mixers, and more. 48V phantom power can be supplied to both inputs, and input 1 supports Hi-Z for connecting guitars, basses, or other passive instruments. MIDI input and output jacks allow you to use devices like keyboards, controllers, synthesizers, and drum machines.
Separate TRS and RCA output jacks provide multiple options for connecting DJ mixers, monitors, and other gear. Finally, an independent headphone output with dedicated volume control gives you complete flexibility while monitoring.
Power Your Live Performance
The
U-22 is the perfect audio companion for musicians who incorporate
digital audio processing or pre-recorded sound elements into their live
performances. Connect your interface to a laptop or iPhone/iPad, pull up
software effects or a looper, and send your processed signal to a mixer
or the house PA via RCA stereo outputs.
